MAX ABITBOL

Max Abitbol (61), a French national, is an experienced manager in power, engineering and private equity with a strong network in particular in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. As CEO and Department Head he has led a number of companies to success.

 

In 1975, after graduating with an MBA in Finance from Hartford University, USA, Max started his career at CE Lummus Crest, USA. 1984 he joined Combustion Engineering Head Quarter in the US to become the Head of ABB Project & Trade Finance Ltd (ABB PTF) in Zurich, when Combustion Engineering was acquired by ABB in the early 90’s.

 

Max lead ABB PTF to become one of the top 5 project and export finance advisory groups in the world.

 

In 1997 he was appointed to lead ABB’s operation in the Middle East and Africa. He was also a member of the management committee of ABB Europe. In 1999, in addition to his role of overseeing ABB’s activities for Middle East and Africa, Max was appointed Country Manager and CEO for ABB France.

 

He left ABB, when in January 2004 he was offered the position as Group Business Development Officer and member of the executive committee of Bateman Group. Within the BSG Group, he was the chairman and CEO of Litwin Engineering and the President and CEO of BSG Energy, the investment and development Company of the Group.

 

In August 2008, he became a Managing Partner of the Infrastructure fund of Cheyne Capital and in 2011 he co-founded ICARE Energy.
